ECHOES: PRECEDENTS WOVEN INTO MY THINKING

Echoes, precedents woven into my thinking, define the architecture of a space through the harmony of volume and void. My practice investigates how these historical and structural resonance points orchestrate human motion and psychological response, uncovering nuanced layers within every threshold. Design is a living dialogue between context and innovation, where the rhythm of light and shadow creates an immersive environment that honors the continuity of the built world.

MATERIAL

Living Metals - Patinated metals, bronze and blackened steel

The choice of material defines the tactile reality of a space. My practice is centered on the honesty of raw substances, using textures to invite touch and authentic finishes to ground the sensory experience.

Lights reveals material, using shadow and contrast to give weight, depth and atmosphere. Therme Vals by Peter Zumthor

Light dissolves boundaries, transforming space into an immersive field of perception. Ganzfeld by James Turrell

The way light sculpts space defines its character. My work is a constant negotiation between the seen and the unseen, using luminosity to guide the eye and shadow to provide weight and depth.

Biomorphic Form - Natural systems translated into form, from macro structures to micro patterns

Scale Distortion – familiar forms are exaggerated. Proportions itself become the statement. Olivetto Showroom by Carlo Scarpa

Repition and rhythm establish a sense of flow and movement

Form reveals itself through contrast, distortion, and rhythm.
Mass becomes light, familiar shapes are stretched and re-scaled, and repetition turns structure into pattern.
Together, these studies show how shifting proportion and sequence can transform objects into spatial experiences.

Honesty of Material - grain, joinery, and structure left visible rather than concealed, the making shown rather than hidden

Hand of the Maker - surfaces that carry tool marks, hand-carving, or visible process as part of the finished form

Furniture and industrial objects are the tactile connection between the user and the space. I focus on the honesty of materials and the sculptural potential of functional forms, where every detail reveals the hand of the maker.

06

MEMORY

A space is remembered through sensation more than sight, compression before release, rough before warm, sound and scent anchoring what the eye forgets. Patina, shadow and sequence turn a space into something the body carries with it.
